Morgan Vaillieres
Morgan is a French-Canadian , grew up in a small town of 500 people in Quebec. Realized her love for Chemistry when she observed its practicality in every day life and its power to solve environmental issues. In the fall of 2016 Morgan worked for non-profit environmental organization and discussed with MP’s , to advocate for the input of scientists in political decisions, and participated in the environmental assessment panel review in hopes to get scientist more involved in the future, on decisions such as oil exportation and Carbon tax. Morgan, currently in the Honours Chemistry program with Ecology, is now working with the Scaiano group on, photochemical water decontamination and H2 generation, which combines her love for social impact and green chemistry.

Amrah Nasim
Amrah was born in Karachi, Pakistan in 1995 and moved to Canada for school in 2013. She is currently in her final year of BSc. Biopharmaceutical Science (Medicinal Chemistry) at the University of Ottawa. Amrah joined the Scaiano group as an honours student in September 2017 and is currently working under the supervision of Ahyda Elhage to study the photocatalytic dehalogenation of aryl/alkyl halides using glass wool doped with Cobalt. Other than photochemistry, Amrah is passionate about hiking, photography and traveling.

Shaoxuan Ren
Shaoxuan (Elvin) was born in Tianjin, China in 1995. He transferred from Lanzhou University to University of Ottawa in fall of 2015 and currently is completing his Honors Bsc in Chemistry. Elvin joined the Scaiano group in October 2016 as a student volunteer under supervision of Greg Hodgson and Dr. Scaiano exploring the photophysical and catalytic properties of gold-based nanocluster. In his spare time, he enjoys singing and playing with his dog, Nono.
