Bio
I completed my BSc in Biology here at the University of Ottawa during which I developed an interest in environmental toxicology through my undergraduate research focusing on the effect of PCBs on the swimming performance and energy metabolism of rainbow trout. I joined Dr. Chan’s group in September 2011 with the intention of further developing my interests in environmental toxicology with more of a focus on environmental health. My current research aims to characterize the impact of methylmercury on cardiomyocytes of various species to infer a cytotoxic effect of this contaminant as a risk factor for heart disease.
Research project
- Interspecies comparison and the effect of methylmercury on cardiomyocyte cells.
