Dr. Chan’s laboratory is part of the Centre for Advanced Research in Environmental Genomics (CAREG), which offers high-tech facilities.
We process human and environmental samples in order to quantify levels of contaminants (blood, dust, soils, store-bought and wild-harvested foods). These techniques help us improve the link between contaminant levels in the environment with the levels of those contaminants found in the human body.
Cell Culture Lab
We maintain in vitro cultures of brain cells, intestinal cells, and heart cells to study the complex and dynamic relationships between contaminants, nutrients, and biochemical effects in living systems.
