Bio

Claudia obtained her Bachelor of Science, honours degree in Biomedical Science at the University of Ottawa in 2015. During her undergraduate studies, she was fortunate to have the opportunity to work in Dr. Tony Durst's lab to provide assistance in the production of an analog of Betulinic Acid from plant extract, which was developed to be a cortisol-lowering medication to reduce anxiety. She started a Master's program in Chemical and Environmental Toxicology under the co-supervision of Dr. Laurie Chan and Dr. Jules Blais in 2016. She is currently working on a project to assess the transfer of carcinogenic arsenic species across freshwater food chains near the Giant Mine, as well as a human risk assessment on arsenic exposure from the consumption of local fish from lakes near the mine.
