Students!

  • Have you ever dreamt of discovering new species on earth? Are you intrigued by the relationships and evolution of organisms? Do you love exploration and travel? If so, I encourage you to consider research in my laboratory.

2015. Searching for Eriophorum scabriculme  along the suối Vàng (Gold Stream) near Cát Cát, Vietnam thanks to the National Geographic Society. The species had only been collected twice and was last seen in 1944 (we found it!). From left to right: Étienne Léveillé-Bourret, Vũ Anh Tài, Scott Ford, and me!

2010. Collecting Carex arctogena with Mount Fitzroy, Argentina, in the background. The last time I collected the species was 11,962 km to the north in Kuujjuaq, Québec!

  • Undergraduates – I am always looking for keen and intelligent students who want to gain experience in the field and laboratory. If you have a high grade point average and you would like to work in my lab over the summer, consider applying for an NSERC Undergraduate Student Research Award (USRA) (http://www.nserc-crsng.gc.ca/Students-Etudiants/UG-PC/USRA-BRPC_eng.asp). Applications for the University of Ottawa are due each year around the 2nd of February. COOP Students consider working in my lab for your work term.
