Glenn A. Milne (Group Leader)

Professor

Email: gamilne@uottawa.ca

Glenn has an honours degree in Geophysics from the University of Edinburgh and an MSc and PhD in Geophysics from the University of Toronto. He came to Ottawa from Durham University in May 2008. For more information, a short CV is available via the icon immediately below.

Ryan Love (Postdoctoral Fellow)

Ryan Love (Postdoctoral Fellow)

Email: rlove@uottawa.ca

Ryan's scientific work at uOttawa focuses on two related aspects of laterally variable Earth structure. Firstly, Ryan is constructing an emulator of a glacial isostatic adjustment (GIA) model which implements laterally variable Earth structure. Secondly, he is evaluating the impact of uncertainties inherited from the choice of tomographic model which are used as inputs to the laterally variable GIA model. Ryan has a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Physics from uOttawa, and has a Ph.D. in Physics and Physical Oceanography from the Memorial University of Newfoundland.

Parviz Ajourlou (Ph.D. Candidate)

Parviz Ajourlou (Ph.D. Candidate)

Email: pajou021@uottawa.ca

Parviz’s project focuses on constraining Earth structure in the Greenland region and eastern Canada. Various data sets will be used to perform a joint inversion for temperature and composition, from which properties such as viscosity can be determined. The resulting constraints on Earth structure will be used to improve models of glacial isostatic adjustment and ice sheet evolution in Greenland. Parviz has an M.Sc. in Geodesy from the University of Tehran and a B.Sc. in Geomatics Engineering from Iran’s National Cartography Center.

Audrey Baril (M.Sc. Student)

Audrey Baril (M.Sc. Student)

Email: abari093@uottawa.ca

Audrey is a M.Sc. Physics student working on modelling relative sea level changes on the East Coast of North America. Her project focusses on putting a GIA model to the test by using a challenging paleo RSL data set from Maine to improve our understanding of Earth rheology as well as past and future sea-level changes in this region. Audrey has completed an Honours B.Sc. in Physics from the University of Ottawa.

Soran Parang (Ph.D. Candidate)

Soran Parang (Ph.D. Candidate)

Email: spara098@uottawa.ca

Soran is working on characterizing and projecting sea-level change and nuisance flooding along the Atlantic Coast of Canada. A key aspect of his project is isolating the glacial isostatic adjustment signal based on paleo sea-level observations to then remove this signal from geodetic data and interpret the residual in terms of other processes. He has an M.Sc. in Geodesy and a B.Sc. in Geomatics Engineering, both from the University of Tehran.

Geoffrey Chapman (M.Sc. Student)

Geoffrey Chapman (M.Sc. Student)

Email: gchap023@uottawa.ca

Geoffrey is a M.Sc. Geology-Physics student whose work focuses on the modelling of relative sea level change in the northeastern Atlantic ocean. The work makes use of a paleo RSL dataset and contemporary vertical GPS data in Northern France, Atlantic Spain, and Portugal. These data are used to test various GIA models to refine our understanding of Earth rheology, as well as past and future sea-level change in the region. Geoffrey holds a B.Sc. in Geology-Physics from the University of Ottawa.
