Operads and higher structures in Algebraic Topology and Category Theory

July 29 - August 2, 2019

Ottawa, Ontario, Canada

The event focuses on operads and other higher structures. Although it will be oriented on Algebraic Topology and Category Theory, all communities are welcome.

The first three days (29-30-31 July) is devoted to a summer school taught by three lecturers. It will introduce the topics of the conference to any participants, including young or less experienced researchers.

A workshop is organized the next two days (1-2 August) with talks given by invited speakers.

Titles and abstracts are available here. Here are some lecture notes for Pascal Lambrecht's first lecture, second lecture, his commented bibliography and his primer of homotopy limits. Here are some exercises from Manfred Hartl, Pascal Lambrechts and Mark Weber. The slides from Murray Bremner, Urtzi Buijs, Benoit Fresse, Xabier Garcia-Martinez, Jonathan Scott and David White are also available.

Local information

The event will take place in the University of Ottawa. More precisely:
    STEM complex
    150 Louis-Pasteur
    Room STEM 201, second floor
Here are some campus maps.

From the airport, take the bus 97 and stop at "King Edward/Templeton" to reach the university. From dowtown, you can reach the conference place with bus 16 and stop at "Somerset E/King Edward".

To what concerns the accomodation, there are some university residences that you can book. If you prefer another type of room, you are of course free to book anything else. For instance, there is a hotel not far from the university at about the same rate than the university rooms.

The conference dinner will take place on Thursday 1st August at 6pm at the Tucker's Marketplace located in the ByWard Market. You can join us directly there or enjoy the walk with us from STEM building. We will leave at 5.30pm from the main entrance of STEM building. The dinner will be a "all you can eat buffet" and payment is due directly to the restaurant itself.

There are plenty of restauration options for lunch and dinner. On the campus, you can find cafés, fast foods and so forth. Small restaurants can also be found on the nearby Laurier street. If you want more options, the Rideau street and the ByWard Market provide all kind of restaurants (20 minutes walking distance from the campus).
