Dr. Hofstra's main research areas are logic and category theory, but he has been interested in games of chance for a long time as well.

    In addition to being drawn to the various theoretical facets of such games, he is also an avid cash game player; his favorite games are No limit Texas Holdem and Pot limit Omaha, but he enjoys playing other poker variants as well.

    As a teacher, he's looking forward to introducing students to the many fascinating aspects of today's most exciting games and to show them how simple but powerful tools from game theory and other disciplines can be of great help in making the best decisions, not only in the context of card games, but in many other situations as well.
