Dina's advice on grocery shopping.

I was struggling with buying groceries at the very beginning and even ended up very hungry at some moments, so don’t be surprised if this happens to you too!

There are plenty of grocery stores in downtown and suburbs where you could buy good groceries. Some recommendations are:

·        Food Basics:

There are several Food Basics stores in Ottawa, and this is a great place to buy groceries. The prices are very affordable and the choice is good. The stores are far from downtown so you might have to take a bus or drive. You can collect flyers and shop on sale.

·        Loblaws:

There is a store in downtown on Bank Street, and other stores in the suburbs. The prices are decent and they even have online shopping.

·       Whole Foods:

The Whole Foods store is located in Lansdowne. If you are a fan of healthy food, this place is great. However, the prices could be high. If you are lucky, you will find very good deals. Eating healthily during your studies is important, so this store is worth a visit. The choice is really good, and they also offer prepared meals.

·     Metro:

There are several Metro stores in the city, and one of them is close to our Department, at 245 Rideau Street. The prices might be high compared to other larger stores; however they have discounts. Normally, on Tuesdays and Thursdays they give 10% discount if you have a student card. The choice is pretty good, as well as the quality of food.
