Work related to Cratonization
of Canadian Shield
I am interested in late Archean igneous
rocks that were emplaced during the final stage of the cratonization
of the
In addition, many of these igneous rocks
are associated with PGE and gold mineralization. Therefore, our studies are
pertinent to understanding the geological settings for the mineralization.
Octavia Bath examined the young sediments, < 2700 Ma, in the North Caribou
greenstone belt which is made up of ~ 3.0 Ga volcano sedimentary rocks
Amanda Van Lankvelt examined the ages and petrogenesis
of granitoids external to the North Caribou
greenstone belt.
Jason Duff studied the supracrustal rocks of the North
Caribou greenstone belt, which hosts the Musselwhite
gold mine. The North Caribou belt is considered to be the nucleus of the
western Superior Province.
Birgitte Lassen
studied carbonate-bearing alkaline intrusions
(2680 Ma) in the Quetico metasedimentary belt.
