In 1997, I established my environmental geomicrobiolgy research group in the department of Earth Sciences at the University of Ottawa, Canada. My research interests range from the characterization of various biogenic minerals (i.e., minerals formed in close association with bacteria) to the microbial diversity of anaerobic bacteria in mining environments. In my research group, we use a multidisciplinary approach where we combine aqueous geochemistry, mineralogy and molecular techniques to tackle various problems.
