Our lab is located in the department of Biology at the University of Ottawa in Ottawa, Canada.

MSc opportunity. Are you interested in plant community diversity and agriculture? So are we! The Sargent lab is looking for a MSc student interested in collaborating with a West Quebec farm to look at plant and microbial community diversity in a grazed ecosystem. We are interested in how a field’s past history interacts with grazing in terms of the plant and microbe communities and how this impacts soil structure and the potential for carbon capture. Please send a letter of inquiry, along with your undergraduate transcripts and a description of your interests in plant community ecology and agriculture to rsargent [at] uottawa [dot] ca

Applicants are strongly encouraged to first apply for external funding, such as those listed below. Note that the deadlines are usually in the first week of December, so you need to be organized early in the fall. Most students apply through their home university - if you are unsure how to apply, start with your biology office team.
