December 4:
Assignment 4 was returned in class today.
Important: There was one assignment 4 which was submitted with no name or student number, but was unclaimed in class. If you submitted assignment 4 but did not pick it up, please come and see me (in my office hour, or set up an appointment). If yours is the one with no name, but you do not claim it, then you will not receive any credit for this assignment.
If anyone has unclaimed assignments or exams, you can come to see me before the final exam to pick them up.
For those who are interested, here are the overheads presented in class today. You may have to do a question on mathematical induction on the final, but you will not be asked to reproduce the proof of the binomial theorem.
As there are no solutions to the induction proofs in Sections 7.4 and 7.5, you can find solutions to some of the questions here. I strongly suggest that you try these problems on your own first, however. If you have any questions about these or any of the other exercises, feel free to ask me about them.
December 3:
